1998 Chevy Camaro Z28

98copoDue to other projects and time constraints, the ’98 Camaro was left in the garage this season. In 2012 SAM decided to run the top end challenge at the Texas Mile. The students added a rear wing and a front spoiler to stabilize and help the aerodynamics of the ‘98 Camaro at high speeds. Also, a parachute, fire suppression system, and an engine diaper were installed. The car was lowered and road race tires and wheels replaced the drag race setup. The film crew from Horsepower TV came to the Texas Mile event and everyone’s expectations were highly exceeded when the ’98 Camaro became a member of the 200 MPH Club at its first mile event, running 200.4 MPH. Only a few naturally aspirated cars have reached that benchmark and Team SAM Tech is proud to be among them. In 2014, Team SAM Tech hopes to run even faster having picked up more than 50 horsepower with the SAM Tech CNC Class designed intake.
