The 1999 Camaro’s first race of the 2014 season was the Chevy High Performance Nationals at Atlanta Dragway. After qualifying number 1 with an 8.36 in the LSX All-Motor class Judson lost in the finals after rolling through the starting line beam.
Next up was the NA 10.5 race at the NMCA/NMRA Super Bowl in at Chicagoland. The SAM Tech Camaro again qualified number 1 with and 8.01 and again went to the finals. The car slowed to an 8.12 and lost to Mike Demayo’s 8.05.
The second LSX race was at Norwalk, OH. Team SAM Tech had never been to this track before and had heard great things about how well the track hooked. Team SAM Tech qualified number 1 for the third time. The third time ended up being the charm; Team SAM Tech went on to grab the event win in the ERL All-Motor class.
The fourth race on the schedule, and third LSX Challenge event, was the always enjoyable Holley LSFest. Judson and the Team SAM Tech 1999 Camaro found themselves the number 2 qualifier. For a second straight race Team SAM Tech won the event, with an 8.19 in the finals setting the class record.
The Chevrolet Performance LSX Shootout in Indianapolis is the final race in the LSX Challenge. Team SAM Tech struggled all weekend with one small problem after another. After a number 3 qualifying position, the weekend ended a round early after traction problems turned into a semifinal round loss. The good news was Judson and Team SAM Tech did enough at the other races to secure The Chevrolet Performance LSX Challenge Series ERL All-Motor Class Championship. This marks the fifth time in 6 seasons that Team SAM Tech has won the All-Motor Championship.
